Our commitment
Deenly is built around your daily worship. We believe that doesn't require a trade of your privacy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Information we collect
Deenly is designed to work without an account. We do not require you to sign up, and we do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number) unless you choose to contact us directly via email.
- Location data: Used on your device to calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, find nearby mosques, and plan routes. Your precise location never leaves your device.
- App settings & preferences: Stored locally on your device (e.g. calculation method, madhab, adhan voice, theme, script preference, bookmarks, tasbih counts, and Hijri date offset).
- Downloaded content: Quran recitations and adhan audio you choose to download for offline use are stored locally on your device only.
- Crash diagnostics: If you opt in via iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymous crash logs with us to help us fix bugs. This data does not identify you.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
- We do not track your behaviour for advertising.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
- We do not maintain a server-side profile of you.
How location is used
Deenly requests permission to use your location while you use the app. Your location is used only on your device for:
- Calculating accurate prayer times for your area
- Computing the Qibla direction
- Finding mosques near you and along your travel route
- Showing your position on the map
You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Deenly.
Third-party services
To deliver certain features, Deenly may make anonymous network requests to:
- Maps & postcode lookup — to show maps, find directions, and look up coordinates for a postcode you search. No personal identifiers are sent.
- Quran audio — to stream or download the recitation you choose. Only the recitation you select is fetched; no personal identifiers are sent.
- Mosque directory service — to fetch updates to the mosque directory and to receive any mosque submissions or corrections you choose to send. No personal identifiers are sent unless you include contact details.
- Abuse prevention — we use a device‑integrity check to confirm that submissions come from a genuine copy of the app. This does not identify you.
Quran audio
When you play a recitation, the audio is streamed from our Quran audio provider. If you download a surah for offline listening, the audio files are stored only on your device and can be removed at any time from within the app.
Mosque submissions & reports
If you add a new mosque or report a correction, the details you enter (such as the mosque name, address, and facilities) are sent to our data service so we can review and improve the directory. Please do not include personal information in these submissions. Any contact details you voluntarily provide are used only to follow up on your submission.
Notifications
If you enable adhan / prayer time notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. No push notification servers are involved and no notification data leaves your device.
Children's privacy
Deenly is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention & deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing the app. Uninstalling Deenly deletes all locally stored data — settings, bookmarks, tasbih counts, and saved preferences.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
